RoseIsle Caaalming Bath Oil Review

RoseIsle Bath OilI think you’re silly if you aren’t partial to a little pampering every now and again. Lord knows we all need it after a busy festive season! For my own little routine I have been on the hunt for an affordable yet organic/natural bath oil for a while, so I was delighted when new natural skincare company RoseIsle followed me on Twitter and said hello! I love investigating new, small companies so after flicking through their website and discovering the Caaalming Bath Oil* (£20.75 150ml) I was intrigued to say the least, and delighted when they offered me a little sample to try at home!

Created by Reflexologist Paul Hammond, RoseIsle was born when Paul moved to Scotland and started to study and create  natural products that would be beneficial to the whole body. He explains “We are but simple country folk and we think it makes sense to steer clear of unknown” – a wonderful philosophy I say! RoseIsle manufacture only natural and organic skincare goodies, including a full facial, hair and body care ranges, plus a few little extras such as baby care and lip care. They’re a really great small, ethical company – definitely worth checking out!

I was so excited when I received my bath oil, and put it to the test almost straight away! I’m usually a morning shower person, but treated myself to a little weekend pamper at my Fiancé’s house (he has an amazing roll-top bath… don’t mind if I do!) The things I would look for in a bath oil would be quite a strong fragrance for the duration of my bath, good texture to the oil and a sense of luxury, and I’ve gotta say that this bath oil ticked all the right boxes. Admittedly I did leave the bath a little oily still, but I think that’s simply because I added too much. The suggestion was to add about 2 tablespoons, but as my skin struggles to absorb much I think I could get away with a little less! The scent of the oil is incredible, and features some of my favourite fragrances: bergamot and mandarin, which are carried by rosehip and castor oils. Rosehip Oil is extremely beneficial to our skin; not only does it have wonderful anti-ageing properties, but it also helps to heal and regenerate our skin, reducing the appearance of our scars and making our complexion glow. Prickly Pear Seed oil also makes an appearance, which isn’t an ingredient I know much about. It is said to prevent dehydration, keeping our skin plump and smooth, whilst also helping to minimise the appearance of pores… yes please!

My only word of advice? Use this at night! I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried putting on jeans whilst covered in oil… but it’s an unpleasant experience. This oil would be absolutely perfect to use on an evening after a stressful day with candles lit and a good book, allowing your skin to drink up all the oil overnight. I would definitely 100% recommend this bath oil to anyone, and will definitely be repurchasing in the future. Their ‘Bathing Plus’ range also features Shower Clay, Bathing Salts and Bath Bombs, which all sound really intriguing and lovely – this is definitely a great, affordable brand with plenty to offer, so please do give them a try!

The packaging was amazing 🙂

This week at work something amazing happened. My friend Lizzie got a little confused with how leaving presents work. She got me a present on her last day…. she was so excited with the launch of my beauty blog and knew that Cowshed was one of the product lines on my hit list, so she thought she’d treat me. Thank you Lizzie!

The thing I love about Cowshed products is the branding, I think they have it spot on. They are a Spa company based in Soho, London that make and sell their own products too. They have a dedication to natural ingredients, and have a ‘No Nasties’ policy, which means they don’t contaminate their products with parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates, animal ingredients, artificial colours or preservatives and they don’t use animal testing ever.

Lovely branded carry case

I got treated to a Pocket Cow, which is a selection of miniature body products designed for travelling as they come in a handy carry case, which is always useful to reuse as a make up bag or wash bag for weekends away. We went out for Lizzie’s leaving do last night, so I tucked three of these little beauties in my bag for my shower in the morning. I packed the Wild Cow Invigorating Bath & Shower Gel (thinking I’d definitely need it this morning!), Cowlick Gentle Shampoo and the Saucy Cow Softening Conditioner. I’ve never looked forward to a shower so much!

Using the products is such a joy. They smell so amazing and herbal. The scents are so strong and uplifting, perfect for a morning shower as they are so awakening.

The Shampoo was excellent, with natural Soapwort which helps to maintain a balanced PH for your hair, and Carrot Seed Oil to help soothe the scalp, so perfect if you sometimes experience irritation. I followed this by the Cowlick Conditioner, which me and my fiancé concluded definitely smells like refresher bars, interesting for a natural conditioner, but very welcome! The Evening Primrose Oil nourishes your hair and helps to keep it silky soft and smooth. It was a joy to use, leaving my hair very soft and de tangled. The texture may take some getting used to, but nothing strange! What I loved about the Cowshed products, is that sometimes with natural haircare, it can leave your hair feeling like it needs a little more oomph and a little dry and just feel ineffective, but these did not leave this disappointment!

The Invigorating Shower Gel simply does what it says on the tin! All of the products foamed sufficiently, so a little can go a long way. Again, it smells amazing and left my skin feeling very soft. The smell sticks around for a while which is also a great feeling. With Ginger, Rosemary and Lemongrass essential oils this again was an uplifting, spicy and awakening frangrance – perfect for my rather sore head this morning! Rosemary is actually one of my favourite essential oils and herbs, it has such amazing properties, and really important for PCOS sufferers as it can help relieve anxiety, fatigue and feelings of depression.

Overall I love the Cowshed products, amazing packaging, quick delivery, uplifting and beautiful scents, health benefits and a definite feel good factor – would definitely recommend to a friend!

Anyway, apologies for the posey pictures, but I thought I’d show you the results on my hair so you can judge for yourselves! One has the flash on so you can fully appreciate the shine it left on my hair 🙂
