The packaging was amazing 🙂

This week at work something amazing happened. My friend Lizzie got a little confused with how leaving presents work. She got me a present on her last day…. she was so excited with the launch of my beauty blog and knew that Cowshed was one of the product lines on my hit list, so she thought she’d treat me. Thank you Lizzie!

The thing I love about Cowshed products is the branding, I think they have it spot on. They are a Spa company based in Soho, London that make and sell their own products too. They have a dedication to natural ingredients, and have a ‘No Nasties’ policy, which means they don’t contaminate their products with parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates, animal ingredients, artificial colours or preservatives and they don’t use animal testing ever.

Lovely branded carry case

I got treated to a Pocket Cow, which is a selection of miniature body products designed for travelling as they come in a handy carry case, which is always useful to reuse as a make up bag or wash bag for weekends away. We went out for Lizzie’s leaving do last night, so I tucked three of these little beauties in my bag for my shower in the morning. I packed the Wild Cow Invigorating Bath & Shower Gel (thinking I’d definitely need it this morning!), Cowlick Gentle Shampoo and the Saucy Cow Softening Conditioner. I’ve never looked forward to a shower so much!

Using the products is such a joy. They smell so amazing and herbal. The scents are so strong and uplifting, perfect for a morning shower as they are so awakening.

The Shampoo was excellent, with natural Soapwort which helps to maintain a balanced PH for your hair, and Carrot Seed Oil to help soothe the scalp, so perfect if you sometimes experience irritation. I followed this by the Cowlick Conditioner, which me and my fiancé concluded definitely smells like refresher bars, interesting for a natural conditioner, but very welcome! The Evening Primrose Oil nourishes your hair and helps to keep it silky soft and smooth. It was a joy to use, leaving my hair very soft and de tangled. The texture may take some getting used to, but nothing strange! What I loved about the Cowshed products, is that sometimes with natural haircare, it can leave your hair feeling like it needs a little more oomph and a little dry and just feel ineffective, but these did not leave this disappointment!

The Invigorating Shower Gel simply does what it says on the tin! All of the products foamed sufficiently, so a little can go a long way. Again, it smells amazing and left my skin feeling very soft. The smell sticks around for a while which is also a great feeling. With Ginger, Rosemary and Lemongrass essential oils this again was an uplifting, spicy and awakening frangrance – perfect for my rather sore head this morning! Rosemary is actually one of my favourite essential oils and herbs, it has such amazing properties, and really important for PCOS sufferers as it can help relieve anxiety, fatigue and feelings of depression.

Overall I love the Cowshed products, amazing packaging, quick delivery, uplifting and beautiful scents, health benefits and a definite feel good factor – would definitely recommend to a friend!

Anyway, apologies for the posey pictures, but I thought I’d show you the results on my hair so you can judge for yourselves! One has the flash on so you can fully appreciate the shine it left on my hair 🙂

Blue Labelle Botanic Skincare Review

Image

I have always had trouble with my skin, every product I have used was too heavy, not heavy enough, too greasy, too scrubby, scratchy or too chemically. I hit a bit of a gold mine when I discovered natural skincare products, but this is not to say the problems had solved. I recently discovered Blue Labelle Botanic Skincare and couldn’t resist getting in touch!

Blue Labelle is a company founded on the Isle of Wight, made by founder Pascale Labelle and is truly amazing. Everything I could want in a company, really!

Excellent Personal Service

It wasn’t long before I purchased some products after Founder, Pascale’s advice on where I’m going wrong with skincare. I had put it all to the test. She advised me that most moisturisers leave my skin greasy because the binding ingredients in creams will only create an illusion of moisturisation whilst they sit on the skin, whereas facial oils will be absorbed by the natural oil layer on the skin, as well as this, normal cleansers will use scrubby or synthetic ingredients that will break down this natural oil, which is why skin often becomes oily or unbalanced throughout the day.

My Order:

Cleansing Oil For Normal/Oily Skin & Balancing & Toning Facial Oil Trial Set (Including 2 Muslin Cloths) – £13.50

FREE Cleansing Oil (as part of offer)

Overall this has gave me about 2 months worth of skin care – bargain! I received my products within a couple of days of ordering, which is great for me as I’m stupidly impatient waiting for treats in the post! For all of you that also hate paying for delivery, I was delighted to discover that if you didn’t spend over £15 to qualify for free delivery, it was under £2 – that I could stretch to!

Putting the Products to the Test

ImageI was eager to try my new oils. The cleansing oil needs to be used on dry skin, which I must admit is tricky when you’re in the bath/shower and prefer to cleanse in the morning, so be sure to keep a towel close by! I have actually switched to cleansing in the evening now, just because I have found it helps to balance my skin a little more.

I found about 4 pumps is enough for me. The smell takes a little getting used to as it’s not packed full of perfumes, but is by no means unpleasant. Once your skin is dry it’s bizarre not to feel the ‘just had a face lift’ or ‘my skin is about to tear’ feeling that you normally get from mainstream face washes. Instead it feels super soft, moisturised and healthy – lovely! After using the cleanser I applied a few drops of the facial oil, the bottle suggested 4-5 drops, but I have since found that 1-2 drops is more suitable with the added bonus of making my products go even further!

Since using the products I have had lots of compliments on my skin, that I’m looking very ‘matt’ – a definite compliment from another anti-shiny-face obsesser! I’ve been really pleased with my Blue Labelle products, and can’t recommend highly enough.

Summary

Pros:

  • Completely natural way of caring for your skin – no added ingredients with no benefits to our faces
  • Supporting an independent retailer – Pacale is a lovely lady!
  • Leaves skin super soft
  • Quick, cheap delivery
  • Excellent value for money – products last a long time

Cons:

  • I suppose you could say the smell is a conif you’re not used to super natural products – it doesn’t smell super flowery or sweet
  • Not available in stores off Island

Blue Labelle Botanic Skincare Review

Who is she? Who IS she?

I thought it’s probably important that I do a quick(ish) introduction 🙂

Image

That’s me! My name is Rosie Saxcoburg (no, I’m of no relation to the royal family!) and my previous posts mention I live on the Isle of Wight and have a real passion for the Island – we have some awesome stuff here, as I’m sure you’ll find out further on down the line.

I work for a company called Ecoisland, which is a project dedicated to creating sustainability on the Isle of Wight, which is another one of my passions.

I’m 20 and live with my boyfriend, Jamie and our two rescue kittens Barney and Simba (Pictured below!). I have a wonderful family who I love very much – Mum, Dad and two sisters Becky and Erin.Image

Anyway, those are the boring basics, I’m sure you’ll find out more further down the road 🙂

Who is she? Who IS she?

Welcome to Botanic Purity

I may have to ask you all to be slightly forgiving as I’m new to this…

I am super excited that Botanic Purity has been born! I always really enjoy reading beauty blogs, as I find them far more useful than reviews, but strangely never thought of creating my own. It was only earlier this week that I started to contemplate it and thought it would be good to give it a go.

Although predominantly for beauty products, this blog will inevitably feature other things that go hand in hand such as herbal remedies, teas, nutrition and other things I use to maintain a (relatively) healthy lifestyle.

As you may have seen on the ‘About’ page I also suffer from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and hope it will provide some real life help and advice for fellow sufferers.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy! I will try to post as often as possible, and suggestions or recommendations are always welcome 🙂
